We are always looking out for the latest trends in kitchen design to help our customers understand what ‘is hot right now’ and make informed decisions. Whilst we would always recommend choosing something that will stand the test of time, as you’re not going to change your kitchen annually, there is no harm in taking inspiration from the shows, magazines, and designers.

In our unscientific research of the internet and industry expert’s opinions, it seems that lots of classic features and design styles are returning with a modern twist in 2024.

Neutrals are pretty in pink

Pink tones seem to be everywhere and feature in lots of new imagery for 2024. Neutral tones have always been very popular for kitchens, but we are seeing more and more pinks creeping in on walls, or doors, or as statement accessories. It doesn’t mean that the market will be flooded with bright pink kitchens, but you will see as you browse through magazines for inspiration that these rosy hues are featuring more and more.

If you want to explore this trend but not commit to it long term have a chat with us about what is possible within your design – wall colour, tiles or a statement splashback might be possible to bring your kitchen bang up to date.

Losing your marbles

We are seeing more and more marble in the magazines and new product launches. Marble doesn’t have to cost and arm and a leg and there are very good alternatives to natural stone that are easier on the budget. Quartz, quartzite, and granite are all options you could explore, and we have samples and colour choices in our showrooms for you to take a look at. There are lots of options for both countertops, splashbacks, and side panels for your cabinetry. Give us a call to make an appointment as we can find the man-made or natural choice that’s right for you.

Banquettes are back!

The idea of bringing comfort into the kitchen and incorporating elements of the living and dining room into the kitchen is not new. But, the banquette, a seat which is built to fit a space, typically running along a wall that is cushioned and has a high back, is making a return. A very cosy place to read a book, or enjoy a glass of wine, the banquette can also be used as a space saving measure to make the most of smaller space. With a table it can become a comfortable dining area. Not convinced? Let us take a look at the space you have to work with and what you want to achieve, and we can see if this comfy space saving option would work for you.

Freestanding and broken plan

While we don’t think fitted kitchens will ever lose their appeal or popularity, as with the banquette, trends are moving to more eclectic designs that are incorporating freestanding elements, as opposed to everything being fitted and integrated. Islands and Butcher’s Blocks have been popular for a while, but as the appeal of the kitchen as an entertaining space continues to grow, people want to be able to move elements out of the way to make the space more comfortable. New ‘broken-plan’ designs are emerging with multiple free standing work surfaces, and shelves, tables and chairs that can be moved around as needed to change the space from functional to entertaining.

You only have to spend five minutes looking through an interior design magazine or browsing online to get some ideas and inspiration. We encourage you to take a look and find the elements that you really like. It’s a great starting place for us to help you design your perfect kitchen. We have the expertise to guide you through your choices so that your kitchen will be on-trend but won’t date quickly.
